Biography

October 2001: drummer Davide Cantoni, keyboarder Ugo Greco and singer Andrea Aerni founded a band, which stayed nameless for a while. The three met regularly in Ugo’s laundry room. Every spare minute was allotted to their common passion: New Metal music. In June 2003 the guitarist Daniel Neuhaus joined the band. At the same time, the result of a new found passion, Ugo changed from keyboards to the bass guitar.

August 1, 2003 the band “Steeld” was born. Steeld started out small by giving concerts locally and singing New Metal cover songs. Soon they were asked to be the warm up (supporting act) Band for the Lovebugs (CH) in Pontresina and Zoo Army (D) in Uster.

In September 2005, DJ Mathias Widmer joined the band. Steeld began concentrated on composing their own music instead of covering other Bands songs. They set out to create a unique sound by combining metal-riffs with rap texts as well as using seven string, respectively five string instruments to produce a threatening atmosphere and an aggressive sound. Steeld brings it to a new level by adding clean passages or melodic Hook lines. Steeld is now going a new direction and is making an unmistakable stamp on their music.

In the meantime, Steeld, with a unique and grown up sound, tours the nation on a regular basis. A growing following of fans has become evident. For example: In Zürich, Steeld was voted into the finals of the contest “Rock Highway 08 by popular demand. With the release in Febuary of their first EP (Extended Play) Steeld achieved another goal in the band’s history.
